Wanted: Inspiration

I’m feeling a bit of a creative slump at the moment and the blog has been totally quiet as a result. I’ve done very little sewing in the last fortnight and absolutely no writing. At this point I feel like because I’m not sewing or researching anything I have nothing to write about. But I know it’s just a bit of a block so I’m trying to push through it.

Until I find something more interesting to write about let me introduce you to the newest member of the family – Shep!

It’s really difficult to get a pic of him! He’s very wriggly and runs around a lot. When I hold my camera to try to take a pic he becomes super-affectionate and tries to snuggle my hand, making it impossible. So, this is a pic of him running towards me after I got home after 4 nights away!

Waiting for me to get out of bed in the morning.

He has a very sad story and I’m absolutely not a cat person but he found his way into our home and I’m glad he’s here.

How could anyone be mean to those big eyes?!

So, if anyone out there has a suggestion to help me get over this creative slump I’d really appreciate any advice. What do you do?!

  1. Shep, is cute and we too have cats that have had sad stories. Riley is the last to be rescued and I was not a cat person either. She has captured my heart and I love her..I have learned so much about myself from the cats and especially when I was not liking them… I suggest that you go for a walk with your camera. If you are in the city take pics of buildings, anything old and with rust.. The sky, the clouds, the birds. When I am in the city I see homelessness… If you are in the country, there are trees, weeds, grass, barns and sheds. Maybe old equipment. There is a story behind it all and just let your thoughts roam as you stop to be still and listen. your heart will lead you and you’ll be on your way…(:

    1. Hi Roberta,
Thanks so much for your lovely response! You know what, I’m going to do exactly what you said! I find myself in the very fortunate position of having a few hours off in the middle of the Belgian countryside on a beautiful sunny day! Am going to take a walk with my camera and capture the change of seasons! Thank you!
Also, it’s strange to go from the position of definitely not liking cats, to adoring one of them. I’ll never be a cat person but this guy is something special!

  2. Eh? What is the cat doing on the radiator of our… bedroom??? ‘When the cat’s away, the mice will play’, they say. It looks rather like the cat was having a ball when I was gone… πŸ˜‰

    1. Ummm, he was crying!! I couldn’t leave him out there all alone! And I was just back from Ireland and needed the company! It was the only time, I promise πŸ˜‰
